Record a rent payment

When a tenant pays you — check, cash, Zelle, anything — record it so your books stay true.

Record it

  1. Open the Money tab.
  2. Tap Record payment.
  3. Pick the lease, enter the amount and the date you received it, and add a note if you want ("June rent, check #204").
  4. Save.

What happens behind the scenes

UnlockAbode keeps a real double-entry ledger. A payment posts as income against that lease — attributable to the exact unit and property, which is what makes your per-property P&L and tax summary accurate later. No spreadsheet cleanup in April.

Partial payments and corrections

  • Partial payment? Record what you actually received. The dashboard tracks what's still owed.
  • Typo? Payments can be corrected from the transaction's page — the ledger keeps the history honest rather than silently rewriting it.

Tip: the dashboard's who's-late view is driven entirely by what you record here. Record payments the day they arrive and the late list stays truthful.
